It’s that time of the month and Hijacked will be kicking off your bank holiday weekend with another massive night of dirty breaks, bassline funk and filthy electro, plus anything else we feel like throwing at you, all the residents are up in the area and will be bringing it with style for our last regular night at Thomas’s (we’ll be back for the 2nd annual Halloween party!)

We’ve been loving it at Thomas’s, all the residents have enjoyed every minute of it and were totally made up at the support we’ve had. Over the last year or so we’ve seen Hijacked grow into exactly the kind of party night we want it to be and the time has come to take it on to the next level, which will see Hijacked re-launching in September in York’s newest venue, The Hub!!! We’re all looking forward to bringing you Hijacked’s party vibe in a real club atmosphere, kicking things off with special guests Slyde (Finger Lickin’ records) and a whole host of hot acts lined up over the coming months, so keep watching this space and see you on the dance floor!

August also sees the return of the eclectic 4 Record Friday, our bastard child which has spawned into a night in its own right, for those not in the know this is open decks Hijacked style, bring 4 tunes of your choice on vinyl, cd or mp3 player and play them! Expect true randomness.

On a final note I’m sad to say Hijacked resident Rob Green Renegade has decided to leave Hijacked, at least for the time being, we hope this will just be a short term thing, but would like to say thanks to Rob for all his hard work in helping make Hijacked what it is.

And as for the rest of you, let’s get down and dirty!

Bring it!

wow…..what can I say about that?  Think you all got that one…..that was one of the busiest nights we’ve had down at Thomas’ and it was electric, fierce and rocking, it was fantastic to see so many new faces and even more so all the people who have been partying with us from the start (you know where it’s at) bringing it on the dancefloor.  Big thanks to Matty Raines and Ali Lou, who did an amazing job in room 2 and guests Micky B and Dan Brennan rocking it out with a fine slice of Hijacked stlye breaks and low fi techno in front room.

Next month we’re back with a residents special, all the crew will be there for a massive party and what will be our last (last) regular Hijacked at Thomas’ before we return in a new venue in September….keep watching for details……

man – I’ve only just woken up, what happened? who they? last thing I remember is being  stood on the dancefloor in Thomas’s with Dust rocking out some phat breaks and mean dub step - must have been a good party, if it was you that found me and took me home, er, thanks, but can I have my clothes back?

Everyone here at Hijacked would like to say a big thank you to Technical Descent for putting in a guest appearance and dropping a fine set and as always all you regulars, everyone looked to be enjoying themselves and that’s exactly what it’s all about.

Next up in July we have appearances from guests Micky B (breaks) and Dan Brennan (techno) and our very own Danny ross will be rocking out the last hour and a half with a driving 4×4 (ssh..don’t tell Andy it’s techno) set - serioulsy, expect some fierce driving beats, with a mix of some old school classics (Tresor, Missle, Bush) and fresh cuts from the likes of Michael Foreshaw, Crystal Distortion, Shtalplatten and so on.

On a more serious note, I’m sorry to have to inform you that Dan Tollo is dead, (some mix up with Green Renegade and Columbian drug barons), as a consequence  4 record Friday will be cancelled this month, until we find a suitablle replacement, so this month will see the back room handed over to special guests Matty Raines and Ali Lou.

“I come to break your speaka”….. wow, what a way to start the summer and what a weekend, thanks to all y’all who made it down last Friday, we had one hell of time…and judging by the look on some of your faces, so did you…..there were busted speakers everywhere, some crazy button eyed guy behind the decks and we even had some real, genuine people from the 70’s in……seriously we’re made up by the turn out we’ve been getting over the last few months, you guys make Hijacked the event we want it to be…party! party! party!…watch this space for news on next month’s gig…cha!

Big shout to Sam Hell for laying it down yet again!  Great feedback from everyone this month, what more can you say, the boy done good….!  Hijacked will be back again on May 29th, with summer hot on it’s heels, watch this space for more details!

Hijacked has been rocked following a brutal attack on Andy “the” Kidd by a gang of local kittens, leaving him hospitalised in the immediate term and unfortunately means he will miss this month’s Hijacked.  Details of the attack are sketchy at this time, but is it understood to have occured between the hours of 3 and 4 am last Saturday somewhere in the Clifton area of York.  A witness to the attack commented “it was totally unexpected, you do see these gangs of kittens hanging around on street corners, but they normally keep themselves to themselves and we don’t really get any trouble, I didn’t really see what happened, but one minute Andy was walking down the street and the next he was pinned to the floor  under a writhing mass of spitting, hissing fur, all you could hear were his scream of pain”.  One of the gang members, who has asked to remain unnamed was quoted as saying “we wur just, like, hanging out and that, when this muppet stood on Astra’s tail, we were like, ere mate, wat d’you think your doing and that?”  Doctors at York hosptial were astounded by the extent of his injuries, the operating surgeon commented “who’d have thought a little kitten could do so much damage to someones foot?  We all think of them as fairly light, furry, sweet little creatures, but this just goes to show, you should never underetsimate the damage a pussy can do”.

Andy is in a stable condition in hospital awaiting further operations in an attempt to recover what remains of his foot, we, at Hijacked, wish you a quick and speedy recovery Andy!

Police are looking for witnesses to the attack, if you, or anyone you know, has information that might help track this vicious gang of kittens down before some other innocent passer by gets hurt, please contact your local police station.
